Trip Overview
This is a very special tour that combines Hindu and Buddhist temple, ancient town, river gorge, local lifestyle along with great view of Kathmandu Valley. Dakshinkali is a tantric goddess dedicated to Kali, is 17th-century Hindu temple while Pharping is a sacred Buddhist site where tantric sage called Padmasambhava meditated to achieved enlightenment in the 8th century.
Kirtipur is small Newari town, situated 8 KM south west of Kathmandu is popular for Newari culture and lifestyle. Moreover, this tour also take you to Shesh (or Sekh) Narayan Temple, a highly revered Vishnu shrine surrounded by ponds and statues, tucked beneath a rocky cliff wall and a Tibetan monastery as well as Chovar gorge and Jalbinayek temple.
Trip Itinerary
- After breakfast tour start with scenic drive to Dakshinkali temple. It is about 21 km drive through the country to the south of Katmandu. The spectacular views of beautiful landscapes, terraced farmlands and Himalayan ranges on the back ground can be seen while on drive. The road ends right at the temple. Dakshinkali , the supreme Hindu powerful Goddess is worshiped and animals like male-goats and roosters are also sacrificed. This type of rituals take place twice a week Saturday and Tuesday.
- After visit of Dakshinkali Temple, visit to Pharping right next to the temple . A thriving Newari town of Pharping , once popular for ancient Buddhist pilgrimage have several Buddhist sites. Most famous of them are Guru Rinpoche Statue, Ralo Gumpa, Guru Rinpoche Cave and Vajra Yogini temple.
- After Visiting Pharping, On our way back visit Shesh Narayan temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and a Buddhist monastery where you will find the Lama monks chanting the prayers. Also visit of Chovar gorge through where the water of the valley is drained out.
- Finally we drive to Kirtipur, our last destination of the tours. Kirtipur is also a very important city for its old cultural monuments. It lies about 8 km to the south-west of Katmandu on the top of a hill. This is an old Newar village town and people are farmers and living in old traditional culture. The town offers to see many old temples such as Bagh Bhairav Temple, Uma- Maheshwar Temple including number of stone and wooden sculpture.
- Drive back to Hotel and End the tour.
