Trip Overview
Mardi Himal Trek offers a thrilling adventure which is a newly formed trekking trail in the Annapurna region. The trails on the trek stretch along the discreet region located to the east of the Annapurna Base Camp. The trip explores the isolated routes which lead through dense forests and wonderful views. Likewise, the trek also includes a fair bit of off-beat and difficult tracks. All in all, the trekking trip is full of natural beauty and cultural authenticity.
Firstly, the trip starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Then, another short drive from Pokhara to Kande signals the beginning of the trek. The trek takes on an isolated route as you reach Deurali. As the dense and lush forests envelop the trails, you will head to the Forest Camp. The views of the Lamjung Himal range and Mt. Machhapuchhre (6997 m) will dominate the entire trek. Further, the trek ascends to the High Camp. The serenity of the trekking trails and the beautiful views offer grand company on the trail. Finally, you reach the final destination on the trek and adore the display of the magical Himalayas. The Mardi Himal Base Camp is the perfect viewpoint to relish the sights of Machhapuchhre (6997 m), Dhaulagiri, Mt. Annapurna and other mountains in the Annapurna range.
Then, after enjoying the mesmerizing display of the Annapurna Himalayas, you begin the return trek. The first stop on the descent is Siding village which is one of the most prominent stops on the trip. The village is known for its authentic display and practice of Gurung culture and lifestyle. Here, you can enjoy the Gurung hospitality while marveling at the grand Himalayas. Finally, the trek heads to Pokhara on a short drive and ends with another drive to Kathmandu.

Trip Itinerary
- Upon arrival at Tribhuwan Intl Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from Vista Trek waiting, well in time, to receive you, shall welcome you to this land of the towering Himalayas. Once reaching your hotel in a car from the airport, all you need to do is check in and enjoy the refreshment served.
- We then visit the Vista Trek office for discussion on trekking, introduction to the guide and porter and settlement of dues if any. Since you often still have some time left for a walk around Thamel, you can do so if you please.
- We head off to Pokhara on a tourist bus early morning. On a highway carved along the foothills and along the banks of the famous Trishuli and Marshyndi river, this almost 6-hour journey, with guaranteed two stops for breakfast and lunch comes to its final stop in Phokhara, the city of lakes.
- Spend the night in a hotel here.
- After breakfast, our journey starts with our one-hour-cab ride to Kade. When in Kade, we begin our walk to Australian Camp and this often lasts for around one hour and a half.On a relatively steeper side, the route is an uphill through a green forest. Australian Camp, our stopover for lunch, is a lively village with restaurants serving a variety of dishes. also offers Mt Machhapuchhré, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli as well as the Manaslu Range for a view with lunch.
- After lunch, we walk again for half hour to Pothana, another beautiful village, where we will need to produce our permits at the check post. Another an hour from Pothana will bring us to Deurali, our last stop for today. A gradual uphill, with the landscape similar to the one before, leads everyone to Deurali in the middle of the forest, with Three or four constructions, with the look and feel of a town. The Camp, however, is not just an example of human intent but also a place where the view on offer includes Mt Machhapuchhré, the Pokhara Valley and Annapurna South as well as the top view of Mt. Dhaulagiri.
- We spend our night here.
- After a heavy breakfast, we walk gradual up hill, comfortable on the legs. This four-hour trek through a big forest on narrow paths is a mix of half-an-hour uphills, followed by 20-25-minute flat trails. Only one tea hut is available on the way, where we can have little rest with a cup of tea.
- The trek continue one and half our all the way through the jungle with occasional view of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Fishtail before arriving in in Forest Camp. We take our lunch and just enjoy our moment in the nature for rest of the day.
- We spend our night here.
- After breakfast, we head off for Low Camp, our stopover for tea. This two-n-a-half-hour walk is a stroll through a dense jungle dominated by rhododendron trees.
- We then continue another an hour almost uphill walk to Badal Danda ( Also refers Nange Danda) for the lunch. While having lunch, the view has on display includes a Annapurna South , Hiunchuli as well as all the trail that leads to Annapurna Base Camp to the north, Mt. Fishtail to the east and Pokhara Valley in south.
- Leaving Badal Danda after lunch starts with a steep climb all the way to High Camp. With the trees now replaced mostly by shrubs and grasses, this one and half hour uphill finally arrives in High Camp with Three hotels as of April 2016. What awaits all is the majestic Mt Hiunchuli right in front, the entire Annapurna Range and numerous settlements including Chhomrong, Sinawa and Ghandruk far below.
- We spend the night here.
- The first thing we do after breakfast is pack our lunch and sufficient water. This walk comes to us as a steep uphill, on a narrow trail, on a ridge with cliffs on both sides, against strong winds, demanding extra care for that necessary balance required to avoid a fall, with an exceptional view of Annapurna I, II, III, IV, Mt Gangapurna and the Hiunchuli always right in front alluring the attentions of all traversing.
- Photographs, smiles, hugs … in sheer admiration of the endurance to the Base Camp. This often lasts for around half an hour before we start our walk back that lasts for the next two and a half hours or so to High Camp.
- We spend the night here.
- After breakfast, we start our walk to Siding. A downhill all the way, we walk all the way to Siding, retracing our steps until Low Camp before choosing a new path to trudge on. Siding is our stopover for lunch, dinner and the night.
- After breakfast, we walk down for around an hour through cultivated lands to Kalimati and repeat the two-hour-cab ride from here on, to the opposite direction this time around, to Pokhara. Once in Pokhara and since the day would still be early, I would suggest we walk around the lake city.
- We spend the night here.
- We head off to Kathmandu on a tourist bus early morning. This almost six-hour journey passes through numerous important settlements with guaranteed two stops for breakfast and lunch. The bus ride finally comes to its stop in Kathmandu.
