My partner and I went to Nepal in April/May 2009 . We had heard about Vista Trek from some travellers we’d met in Vietnam and decided to check them out. I was so happy we did because they were friendly and professional from the beginning and gave us all the information we needed to plan our trip. We were planning on hiking for a month, so we wanted to be sure about our route, places to stay, food etc. and Vista Trek was able to give us recommendations about all of these things. When we arrived, our guide picked us up from the airport, got us a place to stay, introduced us to the rest of the Vista Trek crew, and showed us around a little bit.

We started our hike two days later and it didn’t take long to realise that we had made the right choice for trekking companies. The majority of other travellers we met didn’t get along with their guides and were simply told what to do. Our guide Arjun and porter Krishna were fabulous and they always made sure we were ok with decisions (thank goodness we had an extra person in our group because I hurt my foot and couldn’t carry all my stuff!). We played cards together in the evenings and joked around a lot while the other travellers didn’t even want to be with their guides. Also, on my birthday I was touched when Krishna surprised me with the most delicious cake ever! I don’t know where he got the ingredients or how he cooked it given there was no oven, but I was very moved.

We had planned on going to India after Nepal, but after such a great experience with Vista Trek and making friends with our guide we signed up for another trek with them. I dream of going back again in the future and still keep in touch with Arjun, who I feel is like one of my relatives now.

I highly recommend this company and although my guide was Arjun, I met other guides working there and they were all super friendly and great to be around!
